Is there anyway to see if a person at a specific ip address is using a certain program?

-

Question by mac l: Is there anyway to see if a person at a specific ip address is using a certain program?
I host games all the time on Warcraft 3 and so far there is nothing out to find if someone is hacking. If there is a way to scan someones ip address to see if they are running a certain program (the hacking program) then i will be able to kick that person before the game starts and save us all some time. Im looking for a program that can do this, or even a command, becuase i can make my own programs. thank you.
What hey use is a third party program that enhances their game play ability by changing what they game does for them while play, example it will show all the players on the map at once, but only for them.

it will not send me any data or “hack” my address in anyway, so those suggestions are not the best.

they use a third party program to do this.

even if i get the code, i will make a program that shows me only that one program being used and thats it, alert me and then i will manually kick that player.

No. That is highly illegal, even if you think they’re hacking.

But what you can do is try to create a program to check the packets they are sending you. Examine what legit packets look like, how often they come in, things of the such. Typically a hacker’s packets coming to you, as the host, will not be par with those of legit players.

No. It is possible to find the IP address of every web site you go to. This is the principle of the Domain Name System (DNS).

It would be a HUGE security issue If you were able to access a site’s database (DB) from just their IP address. If that were the case, I could view Google’s database and find user passwords for GMail. It just isn’t possible from an outsider’s standpoint.

However, if you have the necessary items to view a databse, you should be able to access, read, and modify a database.

You need the domain name of the SQL server (usually mysql.example.com), the DB username, and the DB password. You can make a connection to a database through a scripting language such as PHP.

W3Schools has a great tutorial on PHP and MySQL interconnecting. Here’s the link:

One employee has been downloading with emule and want to restrict his access or limit his bandwith capacity or deny emule from downloading.

There is no way to just stop it from downloading with out blocking the complete internet connection when using ICS. If you were using a router or server you could block ports to stop the emule use..

Question by mabyjc: how to configure ip address on a switch other than using DHCP?
I need to ping a switch from a host. The switch is new. how do i configure its ip address? is it possible to do it without using DHCP?

If your switch is not manageable then you can’t give any IP to it. Or it the switch is manageable then you will have to connect it with your pc with com port or cross cable. There will be a documentation cd with your device. There you will get the default ip of this.

Can someone tell me how to build a VIRTUAL LAN (virual network) using VirtualBox OR MS virtual PC 2007? detail?

Question by : Can someone tell me how to build a VIRTUAL LAN (virual network) using VirtualBox OR MS virtual PC 2007? detail?
Using either VirtualBox OR Virtual PC 2007 I want to build a network with serveral virtual PCs. I’m using MS XP sp2 for all PCs (including host). For the case of Virtual PC 2007, I used MS loop-back adapter and tried to build a network but faild. For tha case of virtaulBox also result is same.

I search in google and found some interesting facts how to do it, but they couldn’t help me. I’m still learning and want to do practicles on networking & server accessing (i.e running web, e-mail servers etc). Therefore, if someone can kindly give me STEP-BY-STEP instructions on building a virtual network, it’ll be a greate help to my studies.

AS a SUMMARY; I WANT A VIRTUAL NETWORK such that GUEST OS MUST BE ABLE TO TALK TO HOST and HOST SHOULD BE ABLE TO TALK TO GUEST OS. (i.e. ping should work from guest to host and host to guess)

regards.
Please give me any good references as well.

Thanks again.

There is lots of information out on the internet regarding the use of Virtual PC 2007. The amount of detail that’s needed to run a guest PC is extensive so I’m not going to step by step on how. I will tell you using the loopback adapter won’t work. If you have a physical adapter on the host you need to use that. If you don’t have a physical adapter put one it.

What do you think? Answer below!
