installing Ubuntu 7 on Virtual PC 2007. mouse won’t work??

-

Question by Derrick E: installing Ubuntu 7 on Virtual PC 2007. mouse won’t work??
My host OS is windows vista so i downloaded virtual pc 2007 and installed xp pro on it. that works fine.
but i installed Ubuntu after i installed xp and my mouse doesnt work on it. also, the first time i booted it the graphics were screwy so i had to boot in “safe graphics mode” but it didnt look like the mouse did anything when the graphics were screwy. i am on a laptop if that makes any difference.
Ok i installed virtual box like you said and it works fine, the problem is now that i can run ubuntu off the disc but the screen isnt big enough to navigate the menus to install it! ive tried all resolution settings i cant scroll down… any more ideas?

Hi, I am not really sure about how Virtual PC’s Linux support is.

I would suggest u install virtual box from:

http://www.virtualbox.org

Just in case did u make the correct settings for the Linux system, Ubuntu uses Linux kernel 2.6.22 or 2.6 for short.

Good Luck!

Installing Fedora 7 on virtual box?

-

Question by CodeBreaker23: Installing Fedora 7 on virtual box?
when i’m installing fedora07 in virtual box (host OS is vista home) it keep on saying that i don’t have enough disk space. i have allocated 3GB for the virtual disk and have more than 10GB free on that partition.

Even wen I change the installation components, the disk image is getting copied to the hard drive but installing shops half way

guys… plz advise !!

IIRC Fedora’s manual says you should give it at least 9GB. You gave it only 3GB.

Try increasing the size of virtual disk. You can delete some useless stuff to make room for that.

installing xp in virtual pc, but don’t want to use activation key?

-

Question by Chris D: installing xp in virtual pc, but don’t want to use activation key?
I just installed xp virtual pc inside my host xp, but i don’t want to use my activation key because i think its pointless to waste it so i can experiment with it. So my question is, if i do register, would i used up my limited installation permission? I already used up one for my host.

well, i dont think it matters.

i remember hearing somewhere that you can confirm to uninstall the software and deactivate the activation key so it can be used again when installing a new computer.

its standard so that when someone buys their own custom modded computer (separate parts) then they can just uninstall the previous xp and install it into the new computer.
