what a crappy way to try and explain it... ok. So you ip address is the layer 3 address assigned to your PC, so the host is your PC. Your subnet mask is how many address are in your subnet... in this case its 255.255.255.0 or 256 addresses minus 2 for network and broadcast. your default gateway is the router... and I think a physical segment is a bad term. most default gateways are virtual in a SVI or switched virtual interface. In this case they are referring to the possible 254 devices in your subnet as the physical segment.
Hope the link below helps... sounds like whatever presentation you are looking at isn't very good. try http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/index.html

I can't get some usb devices to work in VBox. They didn't work in VPC on my G4 either. The problem is the host OS tries to grab the device. Two OS's can't own something at the same time. I can't even get usb thumb drives to mount in VBox, my MacPro gets them first. On the G4, VPC would grab them after OSX and then both OS's would complain that I unplugged the device incorrectly [even though it was still plugged in].

I also tried to mount a usb voice recorder that had no OSX drivers and it would mount and drop, mount and drop.

Even the share folder in VBox is mapped as a network drive to avoid conflicts with the host. If you are good at mapping network devices that would be my suggestion. Networked devices can be shared.

No, they don't.
It is not possible to use one IP and one port for two different web server programs.

You can host several websites (with different domain names) with one web server program and one IP address. (In IIS you can set the domain name on the properties of web site)

You can run two web server programs (Apache & IIS) with one IP address and different ports (IIS on port 80, Apache on port 81)

You can run two web server programs with two IP addresses with same port number. (IIS on IP1 port 80, Apache on IP2 port 80).This can be a little tricky. I suggest you to have a look http://www.prismix.com/blog/2006/06/running_apache_and_iis_6_toget.cfm address for details.

If you want to host two web server programs with one IP address and same port, It is not possible in practical way but you can think about to use a special proxy. In this case, proxy listening the port 80 and redirects the requests according domain names to related processes.

I prefer #2 and #4 since you're actually charging the customer money. (note that you have two 4s). It takes a long time to build up enough users to generate ad revenue. All of these are going to be impacted in that someone's already doing it. The trick is to do it better, or have a better marketing plan. You want a corner of the market, enough to make your 6 figures.

So pick which one is of most interest to you. The backup plan is good in that you don't need to fuss with tangible object. I.e. you don't need to keep a bunch of guitars in a warehouse somewhere.

You cannot view someone's database by just using their IP. In order to view an SQL database you need three things:

1- Database Name
2- Username (with minimum of viewing privileges)
3- Password

If this was not the case, then the internet wouldn't work right eg - everyone would be able to see your credit card once you enter it into a store.

Good luck!
