Can someone answer my virtual computer questions?
Question by BaseDeath incorpserated: Can someone answer my virtual computer questions?
Is it possible to set up a network between a host and guest/Virtual computer? Trying to figure this out so i can install a game on the virtual computer.. and if i install a game Grand fantasia or some other online game would i be able to play on the host computer and a friend play on the virtual pc? has anyone tried this? how can i make it work?
Also i have a dual installation of windows and ubuntu is there a way to share files between the two.. and i cant seem to access my external hard drive for some reason.. Does Ubuntu not read ntfs format or something?…..
And i would also like to know if i decide that i like ubuntu more then vista , is there a way to uninstall windows and make ubuntu my primary OS without losing all my settings and program installations?
Also i realize both the host and guest computer cant be active at the same time is there a plugin or program that would allow them to run side by side.. and perhaps allow me to assing specific keys that will only run in the host computer and others that will only run in the virtual computer… “so i could assign the “WASD” keys to move character in the host.. while the arrow keys move the guest computers character.

For the first part, it is possible to access and control and have access to files remotely with windows remote desktop or linuxs vnc. However playing a game through this type of connection wouldn’t work to great. I’m not positive that your could even do it but I have vnced into my computer and the performance is delayed enough while doing even small tasks. I found this online,

For the second part you would just need to format the partition that windows is on. In ubuntu go to synaptic package manager and search gparted. You should be able to access the hard drive. I personally haven’t had a problem with ubuntu getting into an ntfs formated drive. It usually just pops up on the desktop. Go to the /media/disk directory and plug in you external hdd if it is recognized you should see something like Volume(ntfs). If you decide to keep windows there is a wa to view your files on your linux partition from mycomputer.

As for the side by side access I just don’t know.
